How do I get a referral?

You need to call your Primary Care Physician to get a referral to a specialist.

Does my copay apply?

Yes, your copay applies when you see the doctor. You are responsible for the copay listed under specialist on your insurance card. If your insurance card is over a year old, your copay may have been increased by the insurance company and you may be responsible for more than what the card says.

What does a podiatrist treat?

A podiatrist treats all problems with feet and ankles, including toes.

How long is the recovery for my surgery?

This depends on the surgery you’re getting and you would need to discuss with the doctor regarding a timetable.

What is coinsurance?

The percentage of costs of a covered health care service you pay (20%, for example) after you’ve paid your deductible.
Let’s say your health insurance plan’s allowed amount for an office visit is $100 and your coinsurance is 20%.
If you’ve paid your deductible: You pay 20% of $100, or $20. The insurance company pays the rest.
If you haven’t met your deductible: You pay the full allowed amount, $100.
